I’m Kevin. I design things. Over the last ten years I have taken over twenty commercial products from concept to manufacture while navigating startup challenges along the way. I am “practical” above all else. A team player and easy to communicate with, I am able to take rough concepts and deliver them as working products or prototypes with minimal cost and hassle. My specialty is electronic hardware design, though most projects involve physical or mechanical parts as well. This is my full time job, working from my dedicated workshop near Portland, Oregon. I have in-house capability for most aspects of bringing up new designs and fabricating one-off devices or prototypes. We have high resolution SLA 3D printing (UV resin), a large 4x8’ production CNC machine suitable for plastics and most aluminum, and plenty of bench/floor space for your project. I have relationships with various local machine shops and test labs, so extra support is convenient if needed. I work in Altium Designer for schematic and PCB board layout, and use Solidworks or Autodesk Fusion for physical component design and working with complex physical assemblies. I have designed many injection molded parts, stamped metal parts, etc. Many of my products involve radio so I’m familiar with the FCC test lab process for both module based radios and custom designs. I have designed Internet of Things IoT products, wireless mesh networking, and low cost proprietary point to point radios. I am intermediate level coding on small 8 to 32 bit microprocessors in C,C++. My code is extremely "human readable" and cleanly documented. I have solid experience with Mircochip PIC processors, Atmel, STM32, and MSP430. I have written several low level handlers for custom board hardware and protocols. If you’re looking for a competent person that is easy and reliable to work with, and who will handle your project as if it were their own, let’s chat and see what happens. Electronics: -Embedded Hardware Design -PCB Circuit Board Design -Low-level Microprocessor Coding, C, C++, Python -Radio Wireless Communications and Certification -Internet of Things, IoT, Mesh Networking, Zigbee -Robotics -Automation -Short Run PCB Assembly -Prototyping and Test Fixtures (in house) -Reverse Engineering, Proprietary Protocols -Testing, Debugging, Product Validation Mechanical: -Solidworks -Autodesk Inventor / Fusion360 -Complex Assembly Design -Process, Testing, and Assembly Fixtures -Injection Molding -High Resolution SLA 3D Printing (in house) -CNC Machining (in house) -Industrial Processing Fixtures -Plastics Fabrication (Tanks, Jigs, Wet Processing, etc.) -Rapid Prototypes and 3D Printing for Industrial Parts -Moving Parts, Gearing, Bearings, etc. Support Services: -Connections with Contract Manufacturers -Crowdfunding, I've raised approx $400k via Kickstarter, Indiegogo -Relationships with Asian and China Manufacturers -Injection Molding & Stamped Metal Parts from Asia -Patent Experience (I hold 7 Patents)Mechanical Design

If you are looking someone to take: - that doodle on your napkin - your existing product and back engineering to make changes - a 3D idea in your head you can't draw in paint - a 3D model you already have and turn it into: - High res STL files to 3D print accurate prototypes - Detailed parametric 3D models of new products - Manufacturing drawings to send to suppliers - IGS or STP files for CAM or supplier quoting - A product you can actually sell Then send me a message. Bringing ideas into reality is my passion, and I'd love to help you out, whatever step of the journey you may be on: concept, prototyping, design and drafting, or getting quotes to start production. I worked in the new product development group at a manufacturing / aspiring technology company for 5 years, and took many designs from the white board in the brainstorming room all the way to final production ready pieces. I have leveraged 3D printing extensively to evaluate new designs quickly, and love to use the knowledge I have gained about the technology to make recommendations about materials and processes. 3D printing is changing the way we approach design cycles, with faster prototype times, and less resource commitment to try out new ideas. Short turn engineering is more valuable than ever, and new designs can ready for production in months rather than initial prototypes.Mechanical Design

Hello! My name is Jeremy and I am a licensed Civil Engineer and have a degree in Mechanical Engineering. For the first 2 years of my career I was an AutoCAD/Civil3D designer/drafter for my local County Government. My role was to work with project engineers and the lead project designers to create a set of approved construction plans for capital improvement projects. I would receive instructions for what they wanted to see drawn, I would draw it and bring it to them for review. They would mark it up and return it to me, and we would work in that cycle until it was complete. For the past 3.5 years, and currently, I have been a Plans Review Engineer. In this role I am responsible for reviewing road, stormwater, and site layout plans submitted for proposed plat, short plat, and building permit applications for construction and/or permit release. That being said, I am confident that I can interpret and design to any applicable local standards, as well as assist with creating plans that will be accepted by said local governing agencies. My drafting job overlapped with Covid so I am very experienced with getting drafting instructions via email as well as communicating back any questions or concerns while working 100% remotely. Working for the government I have become very effective at navigating local and state codes/standards. I do hold a full-time job, so I am looking for part time work only as I will be will be drafting in the afternoons or weekends only. I am, however, available via texts/emails during my normal working hours, and willing to take calls on occasion. I am completely open to one-off projects, but ideally am looking for a more long term, ongoing project-by-project relationship. I am fast, efficient, and very communicative and would love to help provide you and/or your business with quality drafting. If you feel I may be a good fit for you, please send me an invite! I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully doing business together in the future. Thank you.Mechanical Design

Over the past 13 years I have made my living from drafting, 3D modeling, and BIM. Throughout that time I have worked for different companies, with various softwares, on a wide variety of projects. Because of this diverse experience, I have a lot of knowledge and tools I can put together to form solutions and get the job done. The companies I’ve worked for have mostly been mechanical engineering and mechanical contractors but sometimes the job needs something extra. I’ve made whole building models from old plans. I once made a model/rendering of a booth my company set up at a convention, down to individual candies in a bowl. I have fun with what I do, I’ve also made a model of my own house in my spare time. The list of software and tools I’ve used is a long one. The most notable ones are AutoCAD (plain and MEP), Revit (through 2020), Dynamo, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Microstation. I’ve gone deep enough into AutoCAD to be able to make my own customizations, commands, scripts, and simple Lisp routines. In Revit I have set up company templates and standards, helped build an equipment family library, and built custom tools with Dynamo to speed up tasks that would usually be cumbersome in Revit. There have been many different kinds of projects in my career, and it’s taught me a lot about how engineering and construction work, as well as different approaches to drafting and modeling. I have worked on hospitals, stadiums, military bases, high rise buildings, and breweries. At my current job, I’ve built a reputation as someone people go to when they have a problem or question - how to do certain things, or maybe their software isn’t working the way it’s supposed to, or they’re not sure how to approach a certain project. I pride myself on almost always having an answer for them, or if I don’t, being able to figure it out.Mechanical Design
