As a freelance developer, I am a specialist in Microsoft Office applications with over 25 years of experience including macro coding with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). I am also skilled in database design and development with Microsoft Access or SQL Server. Working independently or with your team, I can help you with tasks such as Office application scripting and automation, creating or modifying Excel documents with formulas and formatting, Microsoft Word document organization and formatting, and Access database design and development including tables, forms, reports and automation. I can perform conversions such as PDF to Excel with Python and web scraping using Python and libraries such as Beautiful Soup. I am a skilled technical writer and will document the work I do, including user instructions, when required. My project portfolio below includes three Access database projects, two projects with automation for both Excel and Word, another Word and another Excel automation project, an Excel design project, an XML conversion project, and a web scraping project. My extensive IT experience includes .NET software development for Windows servers and desktops and SQL databases. In my most recent full time position, I designed and developed an application using OCR to locate key information such as party names on printed real estate and other legal documents handled by city and county clerks. Now in use by twelve customers, the application facilitates automatic verification of the names submitted electronically with the documents or keyed by a data entry person. The development language was C# and the database is SQL Server running as a service under Windows. The code reads XML output from an OCR process and uses extensive regular expression coding to locate information and format it for database storage. A project in my portfolio below includes automation with Excel of the regression testing for this application. I have developed WPF/XAML desktop applications with C# and with WinForms using VB. I also have developed web applications using JavaScript, AJAX, HTML and CSS with backend database access to SQL server coded using C#. I have also developed one application with React using an external API. Throughout my career I have leaned and applied skills such as software architecture, object oriented design and development, database design, technical writing, and problem solving.
