I am seeking to transfer my extensive sales experience to the freelance environment. In over ten years in Sales and Marketing I've tackled every phase of the sale process, from generating training material for associates to pricing and retail store layout. Any organization with a product or service to provide needs a mechanism with which to get it to their customers, and even before graduating college, I've had professional experience in that process. In particular, I've always taken an interest in any written task with which I could involve myself. When working for Mattress Firm this meant taking charge of all the point of purchase material and making sure all the editing was done correctly, which makes a world of difference when the text is on a twenty-foot poster. At Trugreen my written acumen led to being tasked with producing a comprehensive training program on our computer systems that spanned a printed manual, PowerPoint presentation, and accompanying excel spreadsheets. I have always been able to enhance the written portion of a complete idea with great success, and I plan on taking that track record to any project of which I am a part in the future. Ultimately the core of my professional experience is the real-time implementation of the sales process with a customer, either over the phone or in person. The salesperson/customer interaction is at the core of any organization's sales goals, and I've had the most professional success and personal satisfaction perfecting that interaction. While there are logistical differences between the various environments in which it's done, the core of what it means to "close" stays consistent. My ability to close was the main factor behind becoming a million-dollar writer my first full selling season on the phone at Trugreen (I had started late and paced the year before, but there's no substitute for the full accomplishment). Although I was new to phone sales at the time, my comfort level talking with customers was evident so I was able to focus more on the call-center aspects of the position and develop a system for maximizing them. Understanding performance indicators such as call time, closing ratio, profit margin, and true conversion were helpful when Trugreen offered me the Sales Manager position. While there were parts of that job I loved and in which I excelled, such as the use of Microsoft Excel, ultimately I was in my element when it was incumbent upon me to take over a floundering sales call and pull it over the finish line.Microsoft Excel
