Hello all I have over 13 years of experience in academic writing, editing and research, as well as teaching academic writing at a university level. I hold a PhD (University of Victoria, Canada, 2013) in politics and philosophy, with a focus on political philosophy. My work has been published in both academic journals and mainstream publications and I have recently been appointed to the editorial board of the Journal of Chinese Sociology as the English language expert. In addition to my degrees, I also hold a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification and certificates in Teaching Writing, and Understanding Language Systems from the British Council. My editorial services focus on academic work in the humanities and social sciences, including business and economics, demography, environmental issues, politics and political philosophy, and sociology. I offer support and guidance where needed across the academic writing process, from assistance with research, proofreading for grammar, spelling, syntax and organization, assistance with writing and rewriting, comments on where improvements might be made (including responding to journal reviewers), and formatting articles for submission to academic journals. I am available for both short and long term projects from straightforward proofreading of an article or essay to preparing book manuscripts for academic publishers. I recently worked with a client whose book on indigenous law has been accepted for publication by a university press. My ORCID identifier is 0000-0002-8322-3722. However, as most of my work is more behind the scenes, there is not a lot there. I can provide editing samples and samples of my own writing if required. In terms of cost, my hourly rate is CDN $40/hr. I also offer a word count rate at CDN 4¢ per word. These usually average out to the same amount.
