As the owner of my own custom software business, I have been developing and selling a customer management and billing application specialized for security alarm dealers since 2004. This application helps alarm dealers automate their processes, manage their customers, and generate accurate invoices and reports. I have successfully marketed and distributed my product to hundreds of alarm dealers across the country, generating steady revenue and customer satisfaction. Prior to starting my own business, I worked as a .NET developer for various companies, including DCS - Designed Conveyor Systems, Regions Bank, and Make Sense Software. I have over 10 years of experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying web and desktop applications using C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET, and other .NET technologies. I have over 25 years of experience writing software and administering databases. I am a PHP web developer with experience in Laravel, CodeIgniter, CakePHP, core PHP, and some Vue.js. I prefer to use an MVC pattern as provided by a good framework such as Laravel or CakePHP, but can also work with older PHP applications. I design and maintain databases in MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Lite. I started as a PHP developer using the CakePHP 2 framework; this is where I first learned the MVC pattern, where manipulating, presenting, and controlling data is abstracted out. I then added SASS, to make CSS easier to write and maintain. For the user interface, I use bootstrap or the tailwind responsive framework along with jQuery or Vue. For non-Vue applications, I can use Smarty for view templates, but am also well-versed in using Blade, CakePHP, and CodeIgniter templates. I prefer to use Laravel for most projects; it provides better overall functionality than other frameworks and a superb ORM. I have recently started using Vue in projects via an open-source project called Inertia.js. Inertia bridges the gap between Vue and Laravel. This gives the best of both worlds where you get the power of Laravel on the back-end and the modern, sleek feeling of Vue on the front-end where your customers interact with the system. I started life after college (1998) as a Microsoft Visual C++ developer with some Visual Basic. In that role, I developed applications for law enforcement, 911 centers, jails, retail businesses, nursing homes, and trucking companies. I then moved into the .NET Framework in 2001. I set out to learn C# and have since developed many object-oriented and tiered client/server applications. These include applications for GIS mapping systems and some data mining and sharing initiatives. I have created custom TCP/UDP servers and clients for low-bandwidth mobile applications. I have worked with O/R mappers such as LLBLGen Pro and became accustomed to using entities in data layers rather than reading/writing data directly. My first database was Access 95 (yes, I know). From there, I moved into SQL Server 7.0, where I designed and maintained many databases. Database concepts such as normalization/denormalization, primary/foreign keys, and check/default constraints are not new to me. Whether it be T-SQL, PL/SQL, or MySQL, I am proficient with database programmability, such as triggers, procedures, functions, and views. File organization and usage, backup and maintenance, and database efficiency are also strengths. I currently primarily use MySQL, where available and PostgreSQL where it is not. Other databases include SQLite and Oracle. I have used a number of servers for hosting my web applications. I prefer either Ubuntu or CentOS running nginx and php-fpm with MySQL for the database. With the right configuration, this simply offers the best performance. I am proficient in the use of source control systems such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, Vault, and SourceSafe. Git really is the best choice here but Mercurial comes in at a close second. During the past two decades, I have created and maintained custom line-of-business applications, with a focus during the past ten years on web applications. I feel that I can be an added asset to your organization, even if it is only for the short-term. I've done a mix of short projects, several-month projects, and long-term engagements lasting a year or more. I'm an engineer who's been working with spreadsheets for over 40 years, creating a wide variety of Excel files, both for engineering work, and also for other projects (such as tax records, business data processing, payroll records, quotations / estimates, stock analysis, church recordkeeping, etc.). I've completed over 1000 different Excel projects for over 300 different clients, in the USA and around the world. My strengths are spreadsheet structure, complex formulas, and VBA macros. Whether you need a complex macro-enabled spreadsheet to automate data processing, or a simple one, I can deliver. NOTE that I work in Excel (for Windows). I do NOT work with Google Sheets or Excel for Mac, since I have found both of those platforms to have some significant incompatibilities with Excel for Windows. Also NOTE that my high number of open contracts is due to many of my clients leaving our Upwork contract open perpetually, so they can come back to me for additional projects. Also note that I have recently closed a number of these long-term (2+ years) open contracts, resulting in a number of "No feedback given" entries in my Job History. These were all satisfied, long-term clients (whom I am now working for directly); there is no feedback because the contracts were closed by me, rather than by the client.Visual Basic

I am a Christian, a Video Editor, an IT Engineer, and an investigative journalist. I have an infinite passion for video editing and content creation. This has become my secondary occupation, as programming is my primary. I have also begun my writing career at two websites which are owned by my good friend, Donald Standeford. His websites are Defcon Level and The Standeford Journal. I must mention him because I would’ve never started this wonderful path if it had not been for him. He has been gracious enough to give me an opportunity to write and publish articles so that others can read my work. He is an honest hard working individual, and I consider it an honor to be a part of an organization so focused on truth, which is hard to find in the times we are living in. For Don's two websites, I work constantly within the framework of PHP, SQL, HTML, and CSS. For my other job, I am an IT back-end programmer, managing the security of users as well as SQL database management. I enjoy learning and reading about real history as well as ideas on philosophy. Learning about the ways of the world, some forgotten, and some just beginning; life is only a classroom. It’s your world and I am just passing through, documenting what I see.Visual Basic
