I have a Bachelors (Hons) degree in Zoology from Queen's University Belfast, a Masters (with distinction) in Molecular Parasitology from The University of Manchester, and a PHD in Molecular Parasitology from QUB. In addition to my background in nematode parasitology, I have worked in two Multiple Sclerosis research laboratories at QUB and as a Research and Development Scientist at Randox Laboratories. My research background has given me skills in various molecular biological techniques, protein purification, immuno-assays, various gel-electrophoresis methods, fluorescent/ light microscopy (particularly confocal) to name a few. However, I feel my strength was always in the interpretation of results and communication scientific results in writing. I was often praised for my speed and quality of writing. I have written a paper for publication in the Journal of Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology [33 (1): P86] and I am second author on a paper published in the International Journal of Parasitology [35: P1043]. I have also written a 270 page PhD thesis and a Masters thesis and I have written and given two presentations at the Parasitology Society conferences. I am very confident in my abilities in scientific writing and in my wide range of knowledge in biological science. Please feel free to message me with any questions.
