Creating an animated video can seem complex but it doesn't have to be. Let's break down the process together so you are involved in every phase of production. Let's figure out the best way to speak to your specific audience and create a story that is UNIQUELY YOUR BRAND.
What comes involved in creating an animation and why does it matter?
01 STYLE FRAMES
These are great pitch materials for that first client meeting and gets everyone comfortable with the first concept ideas. A style frame, concept design, or 'mood board' is usually 2-3 images that showcase the ‘final look’ of the animation. These can be useful when bidding on potential projects or selling you idea to key stakeholders.
02 STORYBOARDS
Without structure you have nothing holding together the story of the video, ideas and production may change on a dime which could reroute your direction and initial goal. Even the simplest production requires a blueprint in order to stay on budget and within your time frame. Storyboard are sequential drawings or images that tell the actions of the story as they progress in time.
03 SOUND DESIGN
Depending on whether or not you have a voiceover on your video we will discuss overall sound design, effects, and music. This can range anywhere from stock audio to more custom options like composed music. I specialize in sourcing talent, presenting you samples, and directing chosen talent.
04 ASSET PRODUCTION
The organizing and prepping of all assets for animation production. In this phase ‘Assets’, graphic designed elements, text, characters, or other objects, are digitally designed and prepared for the animation.
05 ANIMATION
The exciting part! Now that you know the direction established through the previous steps, it is now time to execute the plan. For stop motion, the lighting and cameras are up, the set is dressed and ready for animation. With digital animation, our file assets are organized and ready to animate. Depending on the complexity of the shot, the animator must make many timing decisions that influence the life of the character or object to tell our story. Timing and anticipation skillsets are key to animation.
06 EDITING
This is where we compose all of our finished animated shots into one unified video. We
trim the footage, edit down, color correct, and mix together sound effects with animated shots.
07 FINAL ANIMATION DELIVERY
I’ll send you the final animation in all the formats you need so your content is high quality across all platforms and you can share them with your entire audience.
