I grew up in Indiana, so I didn't have a lot of opportunities to succeed in a creative role. I mean, there are plenty of people from Indiana that get out and make it, but I suppose I got swallowed whole by the Midwest monotony. I've worked at the same place since graduating high school, and now on the back half of my thirties, I've decided to get out there and try to do something creative. I've been writing songs since I was 12 years old. I started my first punk band at 14. I spent my 20's playing in a hardcore band and traveling the country one weekend at a time. I started a punk band in my 30's, and that is when I started to get serious about my home studio and recording everything in house. As a result, I am fully equipped with the equipment needed to make clean, professional sounding recordings.

Extended Bio: LaMont Webb Praised by Katherine Nagler, President of the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation, as one of “the best and up-and-coming players,” LaMont Webb was honored with the Foundation’s prestigious Fellowship for an emerging Indiana artist in 2016.  Webb’s musical journey includes notable work as Music Director and woodwind orchestra musician for Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean. In his role as Music Director, he skillfully led show bands for esteemed guest headliners, including Jordan Bennett, Dominic Ava, David Meyer, Elliot Finkel, and the acclaimed Norman Brown. As a versatile woodwind orchestra musician, LaMont showcased his talents on the flute, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone.  Beyond his cruise ship engagements, Webb has graced various ensembles across North America, performing with notable groups such as The Diego Olivera Jazz Trio in Miami, The Igor Paltrev Jazz Trio in San Francisco, The Ashley Wey Jazz Quartet in Vancouver, The Ana Bacci Jazz Quartet in Miami, The Charlie Butler Quintet in Vancouver, The Fito Garcia Latin Ensemble in Vancouver, and The Les DeMerle Big Band in Philadelphia. He has also collaborated with the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra on tenor saxophone and with The Kool’s Bazaar Collective, where he played the flute, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone.  Webb’s musical education began in high school under the mentorship of Mike Carson in Gary, Indiana. He furthered his studies at Tennessee State University in 2001, where he focused on classical flute and saxophone under the guidance of Matthew Davich. After two years at Tennessee State, Webb transferred to Ball State University, where he studied saxophone with Dr. George Wolfe and joined the Ball State University Jazz Ensemble, led by Larry McWilliams. Incredible opportunities marked his time at Ball State, as he shared the stage with renowned jazz artists such as Dick Oatts, Andy Martin, Ted Nash, Marcus Printup, and Chuck Findley.  In 2016, Webb rejoined the Ball State family, where Mark Buselli and Scott Routenberg mentored him. This experience opened new doors for Webb, enabling him to explore the administrative side of the music industry. He managed two successful jazz festivals and gained valuable experience in studio teaching.  In 2018, Webb embarked on an enriching journey at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, pursuing a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies. During this transformative period, he had the privilege of learning from esteemed musicians such as Walter Smith III, Greg Ward, Wayne Wallace, John Raymond, Pat Harbison, Brent Walarab, and Tom Walsh. This immersive program sharpened his composition and arranging skills while significantly enhancing his performance abilities, enabling him to delve deeper into the world of jazz and cultivate his unique artistic voice.
