As a child, I was named "Best Storyteller" by teachers and peers; as an adult, I'd edit my friends' stories just for fun. Now it's my career, and I love to use my natural and acquired skills to help written communication fulfill its purpose—whether that's to educate or entertain. In 2010, I started freelance writing as a side gig, crafting B2C content and telling true stories. After completing my B.A. in English in 2016, I realized my true calling is proofreading and editing. Since then, I've completed numerous proofreading and copyediting/line editing projects, specializing in the following: *Christian and inspirational nonfiction and fiction *historical nonfiction and fiction *bio pages and blogs *college admissions essays *children's/YA fiction Contact me for a quote for your project, and I'll help make your writing the very best it can be.Non-Fiction Writing

I love to write, no matter what the topic is. Sometimes I come across a topic that I may not be as familiar with, and then I research it well before I even begin to write about it. When writing for my clients I do my best to match exactly what they are looking for and to always meet deadlines. I also am subscribed to Grammarly Premium, which I run all my articles through, checking it through their plagiarism tester. I charge 3-5 cents per word depending on how much research and "extras" are required such as hyperlinks, graphs, etc. Some topics that I have written on are: ghostwriting part of a book, articles on chickens, mountain biking, gymnastics, driving laws, travel, and a long list of other topics. As for myself, I have written and published my first book under my pen name and am working on my second one. Other than writing I also sing as a soprano in my Church's choir, have a dog, two cats, several chickens, and I play the piano. For potential clients: I will refuse your offer if it is less than 2 cents per word, but I might agree to go that low if it is a fairly easy topic or if you want me to write a book.Non-Fiction Writing

I am a literary editor. My main priority is communication with the author to ensure I am providing what is needed. I offer copyediting, line editing, proofreading, research, and a listening ear. Children's books are dear to my heart, but I also enjoy editing novellas and novels. Children's books - As a prekindergarten library teacher, I make suggestions for the best reading experience. The English language is a complex tangle of formal, slang, and creative words that keep me on my toes. Novellas and novels - As an avid reader, my passion for editing arose from a desire to help authors grow and take their work to the next level. Editing is an essential step in which the author and I collaborate to develop a literary work of art as a team.Non-Fiction Writing

I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades! Right now I write SEO articles and blog posts for a variety of websites, but I've also worked with academic and technical reports, including internal government reports and publications. On the fiction side, I'm also an avid fantasy and science fiction writer! I'm cleaning up a few of my novels in the hopes of publishing them someday, and I'm always creating little short stories as they come to me. Besides the editing inherent in writing my own work, I've also worked on a few editing projects for other writers. I've worked to provide detailed notes on their works, ranging anywhere from general plot development down to line editing and word choice, depending on their needs. I am also an experienced tutor, specializing in statistical analysis in excel and R/RStudio. If you need help with understanding Z scores, hypothesis tests, or regression analysis, I'm your guy!Non-Fiction Writing

In my academic life, I have a Master's degree in Rhetoric and Writing and apply that knowledge on a daily basis in the four composition classes I teach at university. I introduce my students to the world of rhetoric and ensure that by the time they leave my class they are able to recognize and apply rhetorical appeals while avoiding the pitfalls of logical fallacies. I also prepare them for life after college by introducing them to the multimodal world of professional communication. My teaching philosophy focuses on breaking down the walls of the Ivory Tower mindset and ensuring that my students are well rounded and thoroughly prepared to practically apply the rhetorical knowledge they obtain in my class. For more information on how my students feel about my classes, see my scores on the Rate My Professor website. In my life as a writer of novels is as follows: During my last year of the Master’s program for Rhetoric and Writing, I applied for and won a grant at the university for research. I conducted research, concerning women in 1930's America, to write a book. My mentor, Dr. Mimi Gladstein, was a hard task master, but she was pleased with my progress (as am I). Writing this novel opened my eyes to the power of words and I’ve made it one of my central themes. Without going into too much detail, I gave agency to a previously marginalized character from a canonical text by John Steinbeck, effectively retelling the story from a fresh perspective. While still a relatively new genre, several scholars have successfully accomplished what I'm attempting. The difference with my book is that it brings American Literature into the conversation (most of the others involve British texts). I am nearly finished with this novel and have written a proposal which I am currently showing to perspective publishers. In my life as an editor of social content. I began freelancing while I was finishing my Master’s degree, creating and maintaining an active presence on Upwork. I’ve freelanced for DexYP as a content editor for over two years and quite enjoy the work. I am looking to expand my brand this summer and will add a few other companies to a growing list of clients with whom I will offer my services.Non-Fiction Writing
