TL Solutions Solving real-world RF problems… While my official Title is an RF Engineer and I design things, most of the effort in any project is to fix things that don’t work. And even when they do work, there are noise and EMI issues that the FCC or CE bodies don’t appreciate. Once the PCB is designed you are limited – amazing what a different component type, ground strap, ferrite coil or ferrite elastomer sheet can solve. Of course one starts with a basic design – specifications, component selection, circuit lineup, matching, antenna selection, etc., but the work does not end there. I have a fully equipped lab with Lingren Shielded room for sensitive measurements. A quiet zone using pyramidal foam can make the room look like an open field. This is very helpful in testing antennas or receivers. Many products need to operate over extended temperature ranges. Parts that are hot at 25C will burn up at higher temps. Our thermal imaging camera can pinpoint exactly what gets hot and how - what the heat flow path is. For more exact measurements we use a battery of LabView controlled thermocouples. We have a lot of experience in thermal mitigation weather its TIM selection or other mechanical mitigations. Often there are too many things to measure at once - our data collection/automation with Labview allows detailed comparison of many variables over extended time periods. Relationships with Certification labs allow us to determine just what is needed to comply or possible work-arounds. We are good-natured and easy to work with, look forward to helping you. 5 Patents RF engineering services, specializing in: • RF circuit design, matching, antennas • High-speed digital circuits/PWB design • EMC/EMI solutions. • Noise mitigation • Low-noise, small form-factor wireless transceivers • FCC/CE Certifications • Thermal Measurements/Mitigation • Measurement Automation • Optical We have a fully equipped laboratory to do any of the above work: • EMC Chamber (Lindgren RFD60 8x12x7) • Keysight Spectrum Analyzer (MXA9020A, 20Hz - 26.5GHz) • RS Spectrum Analyzer (FSQ26, 20Hz - 26.5GHz) • Keysight Signal Generator (MXG5182B, 9kHz – 6GHz) • Waveforms on generators (WIFI, LTE, Signal Studio DFS RADAR profiles) • Rohde-Schwarz VNA (ZVB8, (300kHz - 8GHz) • Litepoint IQxel (WIFI 802.11ac, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-wave) • LoRaWAN Tester (RWC5020B) • Oscilloscopes (Tektronix MSO 5204B) • Thermal imaging camera (Flir SC600) • Control system for multiple thermistors. • Temperature Chamber (Test Equity Model 140) • Various current loop probes, 100M-3GHz • Various antennas, 30Hz – 12GHz Previous work: • Wireless Access Point RF section with IoT (5.7GHz, 5.2GHz, 2.4GHz) and 5G/NR backhaul. • SMPS noise reduction for 4G/5G LTE transceiver • Extensive use of ferrites and magnetic/dielectric foam absorbers • RF synthesizers for Navy landing systems (150MHz-5GHz) • Clock and analog interface circuits (ADC/DAC) for high-speed ADCs • Small form factor consumer products: LTE USB dongles, LTE smart phone. • Antenna/RF design for Emergency Locator Beacons 121/400MHz (EPIRBs) Location: United States
