Growing up, I had seen many people struggle in my hometown. I had seen dozens of family members overdose on opioids and many people dove head first into financial oblivion. Ciao! I've had a wide and varied professional career thus farspanning Entertainment Arts, Outdoor Recreation, Event Planning, and Program and Project Management. It's been an exciting, diverse and somewhat circuitous path that has yielded a unique world and life perspective. For example, I've been a talent agent certified by SAG/AFTRA, routinely transformed ballrooms (up to eight in one night!) into Studio 54-esque spaces for parties, and worked for one of the original appraisers of the PBS program Antiques Roadshow as auction house photographer and gallery coordinator. Probably the coolest though is that I used to get paid to go on trips, like backpacking in the Cascades and the Sierras, as the Sierra Club's first Outdoor Activities Training Manager. Then I spent five years as a project manager in the construction defect consulting business, where I learned an immense amount of the constructed world we live in, along with the legal and insurance industries.
