I have been involved in publishing as an author, editor, book designer, and publisher for over 15 years. I consider myself an expert in self-publishing for both print and eBook formats.
I have extensive knowledge of Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), Smashwords, IngramSpark, Lulu, and other print and eBook platforms. I have published over 400 print and eBooks on my accounts, plus countless books with clients.
I offer page design, eBook conversions, editing and proofreading, and extensive self-publishing knowledge that can take your project from draft to publication. I often take on a project management role for my clients, offering book shepherding, helping hire cover designers, and going through the many options and considerations of being an independent author or small publisher.
I operated, promoted, edited, and funded Leaf Garden Press for over 10 years, where we published 20+ books alongside an arts and literature magazine. I have worked with many other small presses on similar projects as an editor, designer, and publishing consultant focusing on fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry.
My publication credits include three books (not including 50+ ghostwritten books), several anthologies, and about 40-50 appearances in online and print magazines. I also produce and publish books based on market research and Amazon product page optimization techniques. Although I do not offer sales guarantees, I bring what I know about the Amazon system to each job.
I am always onboarding new clients, love working with new authors, and strive to provide a personalized experience that meets the need of each book project and client.

Availability:
I do my best to make myself available to my clients on a regular schedule of Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM PST.

Publishing, Formatting, and Book Design Services:
I offer page design for print books, and I have a high-level understanding of print-on-demand requirements, limitations, and considerations. And If you're working with offset printers, all I need is the specifications your printer requires.
I also offer eBook conversions for Kindle and ePub formats, which are typically appropriate for any distribution method.

Self-publishing Suggestion:
For the print edition, I generally suggest Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing, the most direct route to having your print book sold via Amazon, the world's largest online retailer of books. If you are seeking wider distribution, we can simultaneously work with IngramSpark. However, not every book project is the same, and sometimes my advice may lead you to other printing and distribution options.
Kindle Direct Publishing will have your print book and Kindle eBook released on Amazon. If you wish to expand eBook distribution outside of Amazon Kindle, I generally suggest using IngramSpark or Smashwords. Both will distribute your book to Apple (iBooks), Barnes and Noble (Nook), Kobo, and many other retailers. This keeps the process simpler than trying to submit the book to each retailer individually and helps alleviate some of the overhead costs involved with certain retailers.
I can effectively walk you through the entire self-publishing process: from editing to formatting to ISBNs, copyrights, LCCNs, categories and keywords, submissions, and more. I can be your right-hand man.

Editing Services:
For editing and proofreading, I suggest the use of Microsoft Word's track changes features or the use of commenting/annotations for PDFs. This allows you to personally review my suggestions or changes and decide if you want to accept them. Editing and proofreading include checking sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, spelling, formatting errors, and much more.
I am not able to accept all editing/proofreading work, and I will be honest if I do not believe I'm a good fit on your particular manuscript.
I pride myself on standing behind my work, and I am always happy to discuss your project and my edits (even if I've already been paid).

Free Consultation:
Are you confused or unsure what you really need? No worries! I offer free consultation on any publishing projects. I'll go as far as taking a look at your book or other projects and tell you my initial thoughts on what your project needs. So even if you don't hire me, I can happily point you in the right direction and help educate you about the process.
---
Rates:
I will provide an itemized estimate before any work begins. This typically includes a final price range, and as long as no new work is added, we do not go over the top price of my bid. I will need to see your book or project as it exists and discuss a general idea of what services you require. If needed, I can sign a non-disclosure agreement first.
