Career Coaching I take a holistic, but real world, approach to one to one coaching in the career area. Too often, when it comes to career planning, we rush to fill a CV with lists of responsibilities and words we think someone else wants to hear. Taking a step back to define our core value and strength can provide a foundation to move forward. CV/ Resume Building Content and Impact matters. The drive to have nice formats and flashy CVs is pointless if the content doesn’t have impact. Any employer will know you can get a flashy CV format online for a couple of dollars, this isn’t impressive. I focus on content, driving the CV on achievement and results oriented content to showcase your value and potential. This takes work, but this work shapes your Interview as well as just your CV, so is foundational for your job search. I won’t write your CV for you, because I cannot sit the interview for you, but I’ll work closely alongside you to deliver this together. Networking Strategy As part of one to one coaching we can discuss your networking strategy to stop you feeling stuck applying for jobs online 24/7, and implement a strategy to help you use your network to get things moving. LinkedIn LinkedIn has been overcomplicated to the point of causing fear in candidates. Getting the basics right and proactively engaging on the platform is the best route to being noticed. Let’s build a strategy to get you moving. Interview Preparation Individuals focus a lot on their CV, as if it is the be all and end all - the CV gets you an interview. Even a bad CV can get you an interview, but a bad interview doesn’t get you a job too often. I give practical advice to help you arrive prepared for all questions and to, importantly, be in the room (virtual or otherwise) and nail the interview. Performance Management and Appraisal I work with you to offer insight into performance management issues and hurdles you may be facing and how best to communicate these to your staff, clients and teams. At my core, I am an innovator. I began my life listening to my father reading fairytales to me as I fell asleep every night. This ignited my passion for literature and as I became an avid reader, I learned to experiment with different versions of myself and my reality. I found these thought experiments exciting and liberating, and they led me to travel to lands I had conjured in my imagination. This later became the core of my personal and professional life. In my most recent role as the Head Teacher of Alexandra College, I brought a flagging school from a financially and reputationally flawed place to become the excellent institution it is today. This I did through my innovative approach to all aspects of the school. My business acumen sprung into action as a direct result of my ability to imagine something that did not yet exist. Once imagined, the next part of the journey was easy. I brought others on board with my ideas; from boards to governors, to teachers to parents. I oversaw a complete overhaul of our campus and have been responsible for managing and leading the construction of two new buildings at the school - a boarding school that houses 200 girls, and a new dining facility that meets the expectations of the modern teenage diner. My next project is to spearhead the construction of a new STEAM building, while continuing my day-to-day job of guarding the school's reputation by ensuring that every written communication, whether on social media platforms, in print media or on radio and television reflect the high standards and ethos of Alexandra College. Additionally, I am a well-respected life and executive coach. I am sought after by young and older people. My clients come to me through word of mouth, and to date, I have not needed to advertise to attract clients. I have high energy levels and enjoy reading and writing in both English and Irish.
