As a professional Administrative Assistant with experience working in various industries, including the Information Technology industry, I have gained invaluable insight and experience. The years I was employed in the Medical, Legal, Insurance, Tourism and Hospitality, and Banking/Financial industries are those that prepared me to do work of a high standard. I worked with and was very instrumental in establishing TrainX as a force in the market place by marketing courses with a success rate of over 95%. Collected bad debts and in so doing allowed the company back into a competitive position in less than a year. I did not receive any physical reward but was commended on numerous occasions. My worth, expertise, assertiveness etc, was proven when NetX took over the operation of TrainX. TrainX/NetX remained in the market for over four years and was extremely successful in the Information Technology industry. My expertise in managing an office was derived from the knowledge I gained working for over ten years with the Ministry of National Security. Being a member of a team that was at the time the best in the industry, I was often challenged by my team leaders and produced results that allowed me to feel valuable among them. In addition to regular duties I worked as an Administrative Assistant preparing and submitting files to relevant authorities for perusal, advice etc. For approximately six months I worked as a Senior Secretary to the Attorney and Financial Controller at Sandals Head Office, Kingston, Jamaica W.I. My duties included replying to correspondence, typing/preparing documents, filing etc. and other duties as needed. In 1993, one on my dreams was realized when I opened and operated my own restaurant of class, specializing in Jamaican cuisine. I worked at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), Tony Thwaites Wing as a part time Ward Assistant for approximately eighteen months. My tasks included preparing and updating patients' dockets, preparing patients' bills - statements of accounts. For more than a year I worked with the Development Bank of Jamaica assisting clients with their loan servicing etc. My strengths are in writing, public speaking and planning. I deliver sermons and take part in other speaking activities for my church. I am pursuing a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration and to complete a Diploma in Management Studies as well.
