Hi there! I am an experienced cartographer and worldbuilder with years of experience designing worlds, and mapping their regions, cities, planets, and more. I specialize in fantasy and science fiction themed maps, but I also quite often do historical maps. While many artists have one specific style they prefer, I enjoy the challenge of taking on and perfecting any style of map you are looking for. If you don't have a specific style in mind, no problem! I will take the information you give me about what you are looking for in your map and will come up with a style tailored just for you. In addition to maps, I am happy to help you more broadly with your worldbuilding needs, including help designing worlds, planets, cultures, economic systems, and stories. I draw from the deep recesses of history, anthropology, and archaeology to help design worlds that are unique, believable, and beautiful. My design process for maps all starts with planning: 1. Review scope of map, including my client’s preferred style and any information on the content to be captured. 2. Make decisions on stylistic approach and mapping asset types to be used. 3. Create base map and mapping assets (such as mountain and tree styles, fonts, place markers, etc). Depending on the style of map I use the following tools: a. Base map creation: sketching, Photoshop/Gimp, QGIS, Wonderdraft, Wilbur (for topographical maps) b. Assets: sketching, Photoshop/Gimp, Blender, Quadspinner Gaea (for realistic 3D topography), Creative Commons materials (for some map assets and textures), Styles2Paints (for some coloring needs), other tools and resources as needed. c. Final editing: Photoshop/Gimp 4. Full draft map completed for review and comments. 5. Map finalized and stylized in Photoshop/Gimp. I see my process as a collaborative effort with you.
