I’m a materials researcher with a strong focus on advanced materials like graphene quantum dots (GQDs), aerogels, and adsorption technologies. My expertise lies in the intersection of materials science and nanotechnology, where I explore new applications and solutions, particularly in environmental and energy sectors. My current research delves into the development of aerogels composed of graphene oxide (GO) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for advanced adsorption applications, particularly for removing contaminants like pharmaceuticals from water. Additionally, I have experience working with biopolymers, having created a small dish from achira starch biopolymer reinforced with mandarin peel particles. This project required hands-on experimentation with material properties and the mechanical reinforcement of natural polymers, showcasing my interest in sustainable materials. Another area where I’ve developed expertise is in adsorption studies, particularly with agricultural waste like corn husk. I conducted experiments to test the adsorption capacity of corn husk particles for retaining contaminants such as caffeine and triclosan, focusing on batch adsorption models. Although some challenges arose due to irregular sampling intervals, this project honed my ability to adapt experimental designs and solve problems as they arise. It also deepened my understanding of kinetics, equilibrium, and the practical aspects of using natural adsorbents in water treatment. I also have a background in analyzing ancient pottery using Raman spectroscopy, where I confirmed the identification of compounds and gained experience in spectral data analysis. This taught me the importance of detailed documentation and the process of comparing spectra with reference databases, a skill applicable across different areas of materials characterization. I’m particularly skilled at creating professional presentations and documents, which reflects my attention to detail and commitment to high standards. I’m currently writing a chapter on graphene quantum dots for a book, which involves extensive literature review and synthesis of existing research. In this work, I’m also creating my own scientific illustrations to enhance the visual presentation of complex concepts. I bring creativity, analytical thinking, and a solutions-oriented approach to my research. Whether it's through experimenting with new material composites, improving adsorption technologies, or exploring innovative ideas like wireless supercapacitors, I am passionate about pushing the boundaries of materials science to find sustainable solutions. My journey from growing up in a challenging environment to pursuing a master's degree at EPN in Quito has shaped my resilience and commitment to making a difference. Now, I’m looking to expand my skills and apply my knowledge in diverse projects, particularly in materials science, environmental applications, and innovative technology development.
