More recently, I was the CFO of a conglomeration of 12 real estate development companies, a property management company, and a commercial brokerage company. For the past four years I have been working as a fractional CFO for companies in healthcare, software, mortgage brokerage and non-emergency transportation. Prior to attending college, I worked for my father-in-law’s grocery distribution business in southern Utah for ten years. It was here that I learned perhaps the greatest two lessons of my career. The first lesson I learned was to do “whatever needed to be done.” To that end, during my time working there I learned out of necessity to drive an eighteen-wheeler and to be a meat cutter in a grocery store. The second important lesson I learned was the importance of customer service. I learned to do whatever a customer needed.
