I am a writer who can write or edit essays for your blogs. I am a theoretical physicist who can peer-review your articles before you submit them to journals.
I am a physicist.
I specialize in the applications of Clifford (geometric) algebra in mechanics, electromagnetics, and optics. The theoretical research papers that I have written on skew ray optics and polarized electromagnetic waves were published in peer-reviewed international journals, such as the American Journal of Physics, Journal of Optical Society of America, and Applied Optics.
I received my BS, MS, and PhD in Physics from Ateneo de Manila University in 1997, 1999, and 2010, respectively. I worked as a space weather scientist of the Upper Atmosphere Dynamics Laboratory of Manila Observatory from 2010-2020. I did a 9-month research work at the International Center for Space Weather Science and Education (ICSWSE) of Kyushu University last 2016 to 2017. I also taught as a guest professor for 8-months at the Department of Aerospace Engineering of Ateneo de Davao University. Since 2010, I have worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics of the School of Science and Engineering of Ateneo de Manila University. And since 2021, I have served as Head of the Ateneo Theoretical Research Group.
I am a writer.
As a research scientist, what I am doing is not just ordinary writing but technical writing, with greater demands on specialist knowledge in physics, clarity of mathematical prose, mastery of LATEX formatting, and the ability to locate your ideas in the Google map of the mind as imagined by Chesterton–a map which contains markers for blind alleys and bad roads, blank walls and sheer precipice, playgrounds and happy-hunting fields, and intellectual battlefields where the lines of battle constantly shift or become frozen in time.
But even outside of physics, I still love to write and write and write, confident that there is at least one audience who loves to read what I have written, an audience who demands perfection in my writing craft, and that audience is myself. Writing helps me think and thinking helps me write. To improve my writing skills, I read a lot. I read the latest news in physics, technology, and marketing. I also read the works of the greatest writers of the western world (e.g. Plato and Aristotle, Augustine and Aquinas, Shakespeare and Tolkien, etc.), not only to understand their thoughts that have shaped our present and past civilizations, but also to study their writing styles and techniques. Someday, I may be able to write like these masters of the written word. But not yet.
I am a blogger.
I have more than a decade of blogging experience having served as editor and blogger of Ateneo Physics News of Ateneo de Manila University from 2010-2020. In that role, I not only publish department announcements, but I also interview people face-to-face with my fingers typing as fast as they can speak or send them interview questions that they can answer in written form. Then I edit the interviews, write the story for several hours, attach a photo or poster, write the content tags, write the url link, and click publish. After this, I copy the ateneophysicsnews.wordpress.com article to the university website and share the snippets of the articles in the department’s Facebook page and university’s bulletin of announcements.
SERVICES I OFFER:
1. Science Blog Writer (USD 150 per 1000 words)
Given a four sentence outline, of the article, I can expound it into an essay of 4 to 8 paragraphs depending on your budget. But in this case, I cannot be a ghostwriter. My name must be written as the article’s author and I own the copyright to my work. What you are paying me is a license to use my work, which you may monetize with affiliate links in your blog. Since I own the copyright, I can also license the same work to another website who would be willing to pay the same amount. Later, as the copyright owner, I can freely collect my articles into an anthology or book and you cannot sue me for copyright infringement.
2. Web Copy Editor (USD 150 per 1000 words)
If you have a substantial draft of your article and you only need to strengthen the sentences and the prose development, I can help in crafting the web copy to make it more understandable. I can add some sentences and paragraphs if needed. My service will be considered a work-for-hire and I shall not claim authorship.
3. Private Peer-Review of Physics Manuscripts Before Journal Submission (USD 150 per 1000 words)
I shall give you an assessment of your manuscript as a person who knows physics, but is not a specialist in your field. I shall answer the following questions: (a) Is your manuscript readable? (b) Is your methodology sufficient to solve your problem? (c) Are your results well presented? (d) Are your conclusions based on your results? (e) Do you have sufficient references? (f) Does your paper reflect your title? (g) Do you need a copy-editor?
