They start burying the dead bodies on the bottom of page 2 of Google. They start cremating on page 3. For your business to have a chance of living and producing online you have to get to the top of page 2 and preferably to page 1 organically and ideally into the top 3 in the Google My Business map pack. If you're not on or moving towards page one for specific keywords in your niche your business is likely not producing the leads and revenue you want. You get there and your online business will be very healthy and producing leads and revenue. Page 3+ your business does not really exist except for you have a website to put on your business cards. Page two you are still on life support but you are alive. People will go to page 2 if they can't find what they are looking for on page one. Not many keep scrolling to page 3 and on. Think about your own experiences when searching for a product or service online. Example say you are in need of a plumber. Are you going to scroll past page 2 of the results because you didn't find a decent plumber on page 1 or 2? Likely not. And that works the same for other products and services as well. You likely would choose a plumber on page 1 in the organic listings or one that is in the Google map pack. The chances of your business website ranking higher on Google depend on several factors. Number one is your niche and the level of competition and whether you want to rank locally or nationally or internationally. My team and I perform in-depth research that will give you a better idea of how hard or easy it will be to rank higher. Number two is the amount of authoritative content on your home page (hopefully at least 1,000 words) and how much content is on your supporting pages (hopefully at least 500 words).
