    As I have detailed my life post drama school, I thought I would share with you my work experience after I moved to London at the young age of 18. Full of hopes and dreams, and without a useful qualification to my name... Hamleys Toy Shop: It’s August 2015. You’re visiting Hamleys because you’re a masochist. Upon entering, you turn left and see a skinny boy hurling a tin foil flying saucer into the air. It’s supposed to be a fun activity, but he looks like a greyhound who’s lost one too many races. You approach, concerned perhaps that he can’t find his mother. But don’t worry, because it’s me. I am that skinny boy. To avoid explaining your paternal concerns and creating an embarrassing situation, you politely ask, ‘how much is one of these inflatable frisbees?’. I reply, ‘fifteen pounds’. Your mouth says, ‘I might come back,’ but your eyes say, ‘bugger off, that’s insane’. It’s a look I grew to recognise all too well. My time at Hamleys ended when I was sacked, in December, for telling the customers that we filled the frisbees with helium - which was true. The Toy Store: Down on my luck and filled to the brim with self-righteous indignation I went to work for a rival toy shop. Oxford Street’s very own the Toy Store. It was brand new and glistened with promise. Shiny floors, bubble machines, shelves packed with merchandise from some of the worst film franchises going; Avengers, Frozen, the most recent Star Wars. They had it all. Unfortunately what they didn’t have was the pulling power of Hamleys. I’d put it down to the British Public presumably mistrusting the word, store, as opposed to shop. It closed after just sixth months. The Lego Store: Down on my luck and filled to the brim with self righteous indignation I went to work for a rival toy shop. Westfield’s very own the Lego Store. This was my magnum opus. In terms of Toys, Lego is very much the Champions League. Aside from feeling the pressure, it was also a time for self reflection and I certainly learned a lot about myself. For example my manager told me that I had “a resting bitch face”. I also sold The Jam's Paul Weller a Lego City Police Station. I wanted to sell him a Lego Tube Train (at midnight) but he was having none of it. After seven months I left to go and shoot a low budget post apocalyptic film in Snowdonia - which was about as fun as it sounds.
