After graduating from college, I signed a longterm contract to ghost write short stories for my client. The positive experience from that gave me the skills to provide dense, easy to read content in a short amount of time, and opened me up to working on articles, social media content creation, and novels. After about a year of doing this kind of work through various outlets, I decided to take some time managing in customer service for, again, about a year. While customer service had its appeal (ability to see how a successful business operates and access to individuals that could improve my professionalism being a part of that), I found myself desiring the freedom that freelance brought me, the power to make my own schedule, the autonomy over how a deal happens, without any of the restrictions that come with a corporate environment. Now, I can my take my passion and managerial knowledge to improve the freelance experience further than I could at first, and more importantly, I can utilize the tremendous asset that is UpWork to create an excellent experience for all of my clients.
