Dr. Ann M. Nicgorski is an expert in Ancient and Medieval Art History and Archaeology. She currently holds a tenured position as Professor of Art History, Archaeology, Classical Studies, and Museum Studies at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Dr. Nicgorski also has an appointment as an Adjunct Faculty Curator at Willamette University's Hallie Ford Museum of Art. Additionally, Dr. Nicgorski has extensive experience as a field archaeologist. From 1995-2001, she was the Assistant Director for Base Operations at Mochlos (Crete), the site of a Minoan settlement and a Mycenaean cemetery. She also participated in excavations at Corinth and Halasmenos (Crete). In 1995, Dr. Nicgorski co-founded the Salem Society of the Archaeological Institute of America. One of the high points of her five-year tenure as the Salem AIA's president (2003-2008) was the international conference, "Cultural Heritage Issues: The Legacy of Conquest, Colonization, and Commerce" (Salem, Oregon, October 12-14, 2006), which she co-organized with Professor James A.R. Nafziger from Willamette's College of Law. Dr. Nicgorski is also an experienced academic administrator. She has served as Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts (2003-2006), as Director of Willamette's Center for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (2009-2010), as Chair of the Department of Art and Art History (2006-2009), as Chair of the Department of Art History (2010-2017; 2022) and as Chair of the Archaeology Program (2009-2010; 2012-2014; 2016; 2020-2024).Time Management
