I am a seasoned instructional designer, writer, and researcher with an honor’s degree in psychology and an MBA (both cum laude), amongst other qualifications. I have built solid relationships with my clients over the years, and have enjoyed considerable success designing and writing (literally) hundreds of online courses in a wide variety of fields, including business, psychology, humanities, arts, social sciences, and life sciences (even robotics and military intelligence!).
With an eye for detail and the larger picture, I create compelling course content and all kinds of media and materials, including blueprints, storyboards, course design guides, instructor and student guides, scripts, guides, simulations, projects, animations, and games. I make complex or dry material engaging and understandable. One project director noted my “uncanny ability to integrate dense, complicated material.” I can also build courses using tools like Articulate Rise, StoryLine, Evolve, and have worked in most LMSes over the years.
I am collaborative, supportive, and empathetic. Being a self-motivated and resourceful person, I can solve problems and figure most things out, but I also value teamwork, feedback, and camaraderie. I have built strong relationships with my clients because I take their success personally. Clients have entrusted me to work on high-profile projects and I've played a significant role in making sure their projects are always completed successfully and on time, sometimes under quite a bit of pressure.
For example, in a recent project with a high-profile client, two of our lead instructional designers unexpectedly left the project. I took over the bulk of their work which included writing a few hundred assessment questions, and creating a project and twelve simulations that were woven throughout three different courses. The client approved all my work and the project was successfully completed. In another long-term project, the client merged with another organization, and suddenly our deadlines were moved up by two months. We worked like unicorns and we made the deadline.
I always look out for my client’s best interests and this is why my clients trust me. For instance, I was hand-picked to build a course in Healthcare Information Management and work with six high-ranking professionals affiliated with the university.
In my role as a master's research supervisor and panel member at an online university, I've coached and guided many students to success. This role has honed my ability to define and analyze complex tasks and material, differentiate between primary and secondary details, and tackle undefined or poorly defined problems. This reveals my ability to lead, help others succeed, teach, think critically, tackle complexity, and be creative.
