I am a Russian/English translator with 20 years of experience in translating documents on IT, railway, accounting, art history, philosophy, and more. My translation expertise has been intertwined with my activities in the academic sphere. There are four main directions I have had experience with. 1. Art history/theory, anthropology, philosophy. I have a Ph.D. in Art history and theory and an M.A. in English language and literature. I worked as a Researcher in the Russian Institute for Cultural Research. There I partook in the organization of more than 10 international conferences on interreligious dialogue and anthropology, held both under the auspices and with direct organizational support from UNESCO. I provided consecutive and simultaneous English/Russian interpretation, translation and proof-reading of the proceedings, and support for the participants from abroad. 2. IT, databases, programming. Later, I was hired as a translator and editor to a software company Peter-Service, where I was responsible mainly for translating and editing translations of instruction manuals for their billing software suite designed for telecom operators. This system is basically a database, so I had to confer with technical writers and programmers to understand what it does and how it does it. 3. Railway operation, construction, rolling stock maintenance, and more. In 2015, I started working as an associate professor at Petersburg State Transport University specialized in training staff for railways. I taught three courses: English, English for Business Purposes, and English for Professional purposes, each term to over 150 graduate and postgraduate students specializing in IT, psychology, railway operation, construction, rolling stock maintenance and more. Occasionally I translated articles on those topics for the faculty members to publish them in peer-reviewed journals. 4. Finance and accounting. Since 2016, I have been engaged in working for several clients as a freelance translator at Upwork. My main client was Bloomberg and I am in the Bloomberg Talent Cloud at Upwork.
