In high school that I was cut out for a management-oriented career as my friends and relatives praised my people, managerial, and leadership abilities. Thus, enlisting for a bachelor’s in business administration was an obvious decision to make. After completing my undergraduate degree, I chose to sign up for a PGDBA with a specialization in human resources for an advanced skillset.
Academically, the three years at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, served as the ideal platform to delve deeper into business and management operations. The curriculum covered modules like Business Mathematics, Marketing Research, Human Resource Management, Business Policy and Strategy, and Organizational Behavior. During my PGDBA, I studied Entrepreneurship Development, Human Resource Information Systems, Quantitative Techniques in Human Resource Management, Research Methodology, Labor Laws, and HR Audit. I scored 66.70% and 65.86% during my bachelor’s and PGBDA, respectively.
One of the most immersive experiences at college was working on a Customer Perception Towards PVR Cinemas. Using questionnaires and analyzing the cinema hall’s facilities, we compared PVR Cinemas to other multiplexes in Raipur. Our research revealed that PVR is the most preferred multiplex in Raipur. Apart from academics, I participated in extramural and community service activities. I played volleyball at the district level and underwent training in hockey. I actively participated in cultural activities such as drama, dancing, anchoring, and singing. As a socially conscientious person, I attended Red Cross Camp and volunteered for Kherwadi Social Welfare Association, a charitable organisation dedicated to uplifting the underprivileged. These activities have shaped my well-rounded and dynamic personality.
Soon, I ventured into the professional realm as an HR manager for SSIPL Private Limited, a multi-brand textile company. During my tenure, I observed a decline in the employees' passion for work, which affected productivity. A communication gap between employees and management prevented employees from voicing their suggestions, which made them feel undervalued. I took the initiative to start the employee of the month award, conducting group activities, and informal get-togethers so they could convey their ideas freely to the management. These little efforts had a positive impact on their work and enthusiasm. It brought out my problem-solving, people, and communication skills and made me understand the significance of employee satisfaction.
This experience made me well-versed in handling employee recruitment, generating employee reports, and helping employees to overcome hurdles at work. Three years into the job, I got married and moved to Congo. After settling in the country, I started working as an HR manager for Umekir Pharma, a pharmaceutical venture. I observed a similar situation at Umekir Pharma and tried to resolve it by organizing interventional programs, celebrating festivals, and launching counselling assistance and employee development initiatives.
That said, my biggest takeaway from this experience was discovering the significance of proper planning, advertising, and customer satisfaction in a company’s success. It ignited the desire to strengthen my foothold in global business operations for career advancement. Getting an insider view of the company’s operations made me realize how vital it is for organizations to work in sync and keep employees motivated toward attaining company objectives.
Five years later, my husband and I had to leave Congo due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the country’s abysmal health situation. In June 2021, in 2022 I completed A-1 level French language class from Kochiva institute, Amritsar. With years of work experience, I aim to expand my expertise beyond HR and take on more challenging roles to unlock a lucrative and global-driven career.
