Hello there. My name is Vanessa Pollard. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I have worked my whole adult life so I have knowledge of several industries. I have worked as a data entry clerk for a government contractor for Immigration and Homeland Security. I started as a data entry clerk 1 and was promoted to data entry clerk 2 my second year there. I was with the contractor for 3 years.
My job entailed using multiple databases, spreadsheets, typing 65 wpm, checking for accuracy on each document, meeting a certain quota each day, pulling files, maintaining a file system. I had to work with 2 computer screens at once. I had knowledge of working with Microsoft Office and had to scan files into several databases. My attention to detail was important and I rarely received errors.
I have also worked as a receptionist for a car dealership for about a year. My duties included maintaining messages for sales persons and the other employees that worked throughout the dealership. I was to write and deliver memos to the correct person in the right department. I also had a daily number of letter I would need to address and envelope.
There were letters that would be sent out to customers as a thank you for purchasing their vehicle with the dealership. So maintaining neat penmanship was a must. I learned to tri-fold the letters and seal them off while maintaining neat penmanship to write the address and name of the receiver on the front of the envelope. I maintained a multi line business phone and made sure to direct the customer to the right person and department. I also did some file keeping, again having to maintain neat penmanship to write on the front of folders. I interacted with the customers and sales persons on a daily basis. I had a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
My third key experience was with Claire's Boutique. I was also known as shift manager and sometimes had to open or close the store myself. I learned how to be more engaging with customers and alert them of any promotions/sales throughout the store. I made sure to greet every customer that walked in with a smile. I also took in and recorded shipment when it came in, did inventory with a scan gun, learned how to use their POS system while also taking different forms of payment. I had to be accurate with counting my till in the morning and closing out my till at night. I learned how to pierce ears with a piercing gun. I learned to pierce lobes and cartilage. I maintained a clean work station.
I have 64 college credit hours right now but do not have my degree. I started at JCCC in 2019-2022. Due to personal circumstances I have had to take some time off school. I also attended Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City from about 2009-2012. Again I had to stop going due to personal circumstances. I did get receive good grades at both JCCC and MCCKC. I was on the honor roll during my time at JCCC. I do intend to finish college one day but will be transferring to a 4 year university.
I have hopes one day that I can work with books. Whether it be in a library or at a bookstore, I dream of working with books and with other people that share the same passion as me. As for now I'm looking at obtaining some professional certifications to help boost my chances of gaining employment.
Again I think you for your time and patience in reading my profile. I am ready to work as soon as possible. I can assure you with my knowledge of data entry and customer service I would be a good fit for the position. I am friendly, customer oriented, neat, easy going and hard working. I hope to speak with you soon. Thank you for your time and patience.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Pollard
