I’ve always had a love for art, and have created art ever since I can remember. I was born into a family that strongly encouraged me to go to college to be a doctor someday, and to abandon the idea of ever being an artist. At the time, I thought I had no choice, and began my career path towards a doctorate in optometry. Even though I was at college studying general biology, I would still create art for my friends. Doodling accompanied my notes, and yet, my passion for art slowly dwindled. After I graduated and started working as a dispensing optician to get experience in the field, I began to realize that this didn’t make me happy. I realized that I was fulfilling a dream that my family made for me. I was determined to find a way to fulfill my dream, and started creating art on the side. It was difficult at first, for I hadn’t professionally freelanced my art before. I had created art for friends and family of course, but never for strangers. I was nervous, and struggled with allowing myself to go for it. I decided to start small and start an Etsy business selling unique and original stickers. It has been a fun project, yet I get very little traffic through my store. I began advertising my art on my Instagram to attract more folks to hopefully take an interest in my art, but it has been slow going as well. I realized that I had been working for people all my life and was used to instant gratification and pay, so freelancing was, and still is, a whole new world to me. That being said, I am excited for a challenge and find new ways to showcase my art. I love to design and create, for friends or potential art fans. I’m looking forward to this new experience, and being able to follow my own dream. Thank you for considering me.
