Welcome! My name is Kenny Donkersloot. While that Dutch surname name is often mispronounced and misspelled, it’s actually pronounced exactly as spelled. Still, in some circles I’m affectionately labeled as “Kenny D.” Friends know me to be outgoing, creative and a quick wit. I love music of many genres, and some have even seen my act on karaoke stages. I like to stay active outdoors, am a lover of sport and consider myself an accomplished amateur nature photographer. My journey to voice acting was likely born as a youngster in school, clowning for attention by mimicking cartoon characters, comedians such as (early) Bill Cosby, George Carlin, and later cerebral comics like Steven Wright. Through it all, I managed to get an education and also found adventure through military service as an aviator in the U.S. Coast Guard. While technically trained in electronics from the military and college, the theater bug in me surfaced again as I started a sales career in radio advertising, where my role was to compose and demonstrate ad copy (live!) for prospective clients. I was good at it – and having such fun! With media evolving, my sales career continued but in other technology-oriented roles, some very lucrative, but the cost of success often takes its toll in losing your personal time. Commuting, business travel, bringing work home — it all adds up. The daily grind was getting old, and it was a wake-up call to pursue my passion and spend more time with my family. In 2023, I made the decision to go after my voice acting career. Enlisting “Such A Voice” for professional training, technique and home studio design has been my best decision ever! The pursuit of happiness — my time, on my terms. This would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of my family and friends, for which I’m eternally grateful. Acting is fun. Interacting with clients and being the characters I’m entrusted to play brings me joy. Because it’s genuinely fun for me, you can and will hear it in my work as a voice actor.
