The power densities of up to 6 antennas located within a 90 cm2 region are estimated by the spreadsheets in this file. The power densities computed for each antenna are summed. The results are plotted in percentage of the applicable frequency-dependent MPE limits. The parameters for each antenna are defined in spreadsheets "Total". Each antenna may be activated independently according to the transmitter power (W) specified in cell D6-I6 in spreadsheet "Total". A transmitter power of zero makes an antenna inactive, resulting in a computed power density of zero.
The operating frequency (MHz), power (W), antenna gain (dBi), location and beam-width (sector) information must be specified for each antenna. The MPE limit is computed and displayed in cell D4-I4 according to the frequencies specified in cell D3-I3. The radiated power (EIRP) is calculated from the transmitter power and antenna gain. The X and Y coordinates of the antenna locations are entered in cells D9-I9 and D10-I10. Only cells that can accept input can be modified, which are highlighted in yellow. The rest of the workbook is protected to avoid unintended modifications that could result in erroneous calculations. Some cells that calculate intermediate values are not displayed unless these cells are selected by the cursor. Cell D11-I11 require a True/False entry that identifies if the calculations should assume an omni-directional or sectored antenna. TRUE corresponds to a sectored antenna and False is for an omni-dierctional antenna. When Sector is TRUE, the angles corresponding to the boundaries of the sector (θ1 and θ2) must be specified in cells D13-I13 and D14-I14. The order of the angeles has no relevance to the calculations. When an angle of 0º is specified, it is converted to 0.001º to avoid dividing by zero. The angles are limited to ±180º by the spreadsheet and the arc formed by the two input angles must be ≤ 180º. If the input angles cause the arc to exceed 180º, the average of the two angles is used as the mid point to specify a default ±90º arc. The actual angles used in the calculations are highlighted in blue and displayed below the input angles. If a cell for D12-I12 ("Arc") is True, power density is computed for the inside arc; otherwise, an outside arc is assumed. The inside sector is identified by the smaller arc (< 180º) formed by the input angles and the outside sector is identified by the larger arc (>180º). For example, if 60 and -60 degrees are specified the inside sector is 120° and the outside sector is 240°. The spreadsheets calculate power densities within a 90 cm2 region at 1 cm intervals. Power density is only calculated in regions that are at least 20 cm from any active antenna. All values within 20 cm of an antenna are indicated by zeros to identify regions that are not applicable for mobile operations. The results are displayed as in percentages of the frequency-dependent power density limits. The 0% contour, enclosing the antennas, on the "% MPE Contour" spreadsheet identifies the 20 cm minimum separation distances for the group of antennas to satisfy mobile operating requirements.
The spreadsheet "Total" computes the sum of the MPE percentages for locations that are at least 20 cm from any active antenna. The frequency (MHz), MPE limit (mW/cm2), transmitter power, antenna gain, EIRP and antenna location are also displayed at the top of each individual spreadsheet. In specifying up the antenna locations for the spreadsheets, the geometric center of the antenna configuration should be located near coordinate (0,0) to keep the antennas close to the center of the computation region, and to center the contour plot. Since a region of 90 x 90 cm2 is used in the calculation and values within 20 cm of any antenna are not calculated, each antenna should be more than 10-15 cm from the computation (outer) boundary to visualize its contribution to the total exposure.
To cost a total of no more than $150 for the increase of 12 transmitter tabs and $50 more for to increase the area of study- the implication is the money will be held until satisfactory completion and awardee will communicate their needs otherwise.
