We are a team from Stanford University under a tight deadline and are looking for a strong technical writer to help us annotate snippets of Ruby code. You should be very familiar with the Ruby programming language, its standard library, and popular gems.

To help us better select among candidates, please reply to this posting by describing (in 1-2 sentences) what the following Ruby code snippets do:

1. var.keys.each { |k| var[k] += 1 }

2. self.each_with_index do |val, i |
        self[i] = yield(val)

3. hash.each do |k, v|
        if self.respond_to?(k)
             self.send("#{k}=", v)

This is a short term project, and we will pay you by the hour. Thanks!
