This work is to help with some research into an approach for smoothing time series data, using Loess smoothing and neural networks.

This involves developing an approach that meets certain criteria that we will specify, experimenting and testing different techniques, documenting the algorithm developed and working with a systems analyst who will build it.

We need someone with excellent mathematical skills and familiarity with an analysis tool such as Mathematica, Octave, NumPy and neural networks.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a background in applied mathematics. We are especially interested in people who have exposure to applying techniques in the following areas:

Eigenvectors / eigenfaces
Digital signal processing
Neural networks
Machine learning
Non-linear regression

Also, the person will have access to their own copies tools they want to use (we ourselves use Mathematica and Python). The applicant needs to be able to put aside enough time to do the work and be resilient and committed (not give up on the project when it gets difficult) and be able to work independently without constant direction.

To work on this project or be interviewed, you will need to complete a comprehensive non disclosure agreement.

Please put the word "ellipse" at the top of your application to be considered.
