We are currently performing several user creation steps manually. We're currently using the "Import users from CSV" plugin in order to bulk create users, but that still requires manually creating user folders in the server directory, manually entering user information in the WP Backend in order to set the user folder names, and manually aligning the users with the groups they are supposed to go in. This is heavily administrator dependent, and it leads to several potential human errors (someone forgot to set the permissions correctly, someone forgot to create a folder, etc.).
I'd like to automate as much of the user creation tasks as possible. I've gone through and created a set of steps that should occur.
This project involves:
1. Extending functionality of existing WordPress application through the use of WP action_hooks for user creation (user_register). This will trigger a series of custom database changes in tables and create user folders in server directories. Expected SQL queries will be provided (see attached files), but you will want to test them as part of implementation to confirm accuracy of the queries.
2. Packaging these changes into a privately-owned WordPress plugin
Please see the attached document for a description of what should occur upon user creation (including the difference between manually creating a user in the WordPress Backend as well as Bulk Creating Users using the "Import users from CSV" plugin).
