We had our website hacked and we need someone to carry out the following instructions from our hosting company:

1. Delete the index.php and index.html files from the affected WordPress directories. These files are 16 bytes in size, and contain only “hacked by hacker“
2. Go to WordPress admin and use the “forgot my password” option to access your account (
3. Within the WordPress administration portal, reinstall the latest version of WordPress (this will replace the hacked index.php with the correct one)
4. Replace the wp-content/wp-themes/<theme-name>/header.php file with a backup if using a custom theme, or reinstall the theme if it’s a stock one
5. Change the WordPress admin password
6. Remove all unnecessary/unused plugins and themes
7. Update all plugins and themes

This needs to be done within next 24 hours
