I am seeking an experienced closed captioner to help me with occasional work (typically 22-min or 45-min English-language TV shows). Scripts are provided for the captioning, but you will often need to verify spellings and edit punctuation in these scripts. Therefore, you must have impeccable English grammar skills, as well as patience. I am seeking someone who understands how to create legible and well laid-out/formatted captions, who is able to pay attention to specific instructions, and who can deliver me finished caption files in .scc format.
Please note the differences between the following sentences. I am seeking someone who understands why version A in each case is correct (ie., someone who understands the proper use of punctuation in English).
A (Correct): I walked down the street in a daze, and before I knew it I had entered another dimension.
B: (Incorrect): I walked down the street in a daze and before I knew it I had entered another dimension.
A (Correct): Yeah, that would be great.
B (Incorrect): Yeah that would be great.
A (Correct): I liked him so much; he didn't like me.
B (Incorrect): I liked him so much, he didn't like me.
A (Correct): We all wanted pizza. However, we could not find any.
B (Incorrect): We all wanted pizza, however we could not find any.
When you apply, please tell me how many hours it generally takes you to caption a 45-minute TV show (assuming the show has fairly heavy dialogue).
