We have two hand-coded PHP pages that access a MySQL database to display their content (graphics, text, etc.).
We want to convert those pages into WordPress templates so that we can look at converting the entire site (eventually) onto the WordPress CMS (the current site is all hand-coded).
The original site is NOT an e-shop/ecommerce. It ONLY displays inventory pulled from the database.
- displays inventory (multi-page)
- has a search form with multiple fields to refine display results
Should be converted into a page such as /site.com/search/
- displays specific inventory item with associated details/specifications
- existing page: site.com/item.php?t=######
Hoping to convert into index-able multiple individual pages:
something similar for better SEO performance.
If possible, the templates for the two pages should be edit-able to enable design changes.
WARNING: The current site was written years ago by a developer who didn't use much CSS. It is FULL of tables that we'd like updated to be standards-compliant.
If this test is successful, it may lead to development/conversion of the whole site onto WordPress.
To start, a blank WordPress install has been setup (with FTP access) and read-only access will be provided to the MySQL inventory database.
