We need an excel spreadsheet that calculates estimates residential heating & cooling costs for a given zipcode (from a list of about 10 zipcodes) from the following information:
* Year of Home Construction
* Size of House
* Year of Current Heating & Cooling System Installation
* Type of System (Split electric/gas vs. All-electric A/C and Heat Pump)
From this data, we'd like the excel sheet to estimate the average expected utility bill for running the current system, as well as the installation and equipment cost and expected energy savings associated with 4-different levels of upgrades.
Level 1: Basic (13 SEER) A/C & Heating Equipment Replacement
Level 2: Good (17 SEER) A/C & Heating Equipment Replacement, and Ducting Replacement / Upgrade
Level 3: Better (20 SEER) A/C & Heating Equipment Replacement, Ducting Replacement / Upgrade Plus Adding R-38 Insulation Throughout The House
Level4 : Better (20 SEER) A/C & Heating Equipment Replacement, Ducting Replacement / Upgrade Plus Adding R-38 Insulation Throughout The House, Vacuum attic, air seal and insulate, insulate knee walls, can light retrofits, custom filtration with make-up air for positive pressurization of the house, upgrade lighting all cfl or led
Each level would have results along these lines:
Estimated Upgrade Cost: $12,000 - $16,000
Estimated Rebates & Incentives: $2,500
Estimated Annual Energy Savings: $1,000 - $1,400
To get this data from the input data, the spreadsheet will have to calculate the required size of the current HVAC system, lookup the heating & cooling days for that zipcode, as well as the estimated insulation value of the home based on its year of construction. From that data, it should calculate the estimated current cooling & heating costs over a year for those given inputs.
After that, it will need to calculate the savings of the various upgrades. We will provide equipment costs based on tonnage & SEER, as well as the costs for the additional upgrades included in Levels 2 - 4 (ducting, insulation, etc.).
