Hypothesis provides a web-wide annotation client that works over HTML, PDF and EPUB documents. One of the places our client doesn't yet work is Google docs, because of the iframes condition, and the fact that Google docs captures selection events. If we were to implement it as an Add-on however, we might be able to circumvent that restriction.
This job will be a proof of concept that will allow us to better understand the potential for integration and what challenges need to be overcome.
The work required is to take our existing client app, which can be found at https://github.com/hypothesis/client, and bring it into Google Docs. A major question for us is whether an existing, complex, JS application could be added to Gdocs, or whether the add-on capability is for more limited projects.
You can see the Hypothesis client at work by installing our chrome extension (http://hypothes.is) or by going to docdrop.org and dragging a PDF over the target.
