Software Purchased to Run Jobboard: SmartJobBoards.com
Problem to Solve: Fix the Search functionality for both “Keywords” and “Location”.
As it is now, when you type in a keyword like “construction workers” you get all kinds of jobs from every category. We want to have it so that when a visitor types in “construction workers”, the word “construction” or “worker” or “workers” appears in all of the job titles. We understand keywords also pull jobs that have the keyword in the job description, but we would like to prioritize it. For example, the first jobs that will appear will all have the keyword in the job title, then jobs with the keyword in the job description will follow.
Similarly, when you select a specific city in “Location”, jobs from a whole bunch of other cities (in that state) appear. For example, when you select “Tampa, FL, United States”, in the “Location” field, no jobs in Tampa appear, even though there are 365 jobs on the site in Tampa. But if you click on “Tampa” from the “Jobs by City” listings page, then all the jobs listed in Tampa appear.
When you typed “Dade City” into the “Keyword” field, jobs from Dade City show up, but when you selected “Dade City, FL, United States” in the “Location” field, no jobs from Dade City showed up. This is a problem as jobseekers will be selecting their city from the “Location” field and will only get a list of jobs that aren’t in their city.
We purchase this software from SmartJobBoards.com. We asked them to fix this problem and this is what they told us:
"Hello Brad and Taf,
Great to hear from you guys.
We have looked through the document you sent to us, and at the end of it you have stated:
"AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, fixing the Search functionality for both “Keywords” and “Location” because it’s not working correctly"
Unfortunately, due to it being very technical, and hosting server configuration related, it is not possible to customize it on licensed version. Whereas, Search by Relevance done in our SaaS has it configured automatically.
Would you be interested in reviewing option of migrating over to our hosting servers?
You can trial it out to see for yourself here: https://www.smartjobboard.com/ca/trial.php
In case if you consider this option, we will also see possibility of implementing other stated points as well. Please note, changes that will require design modifications (hiding job counter, etc.) can definitely be done on SaaS as well.
Look forward to hear from you on your decision.
With best regards,
Regardless, we are not interested in signing up with their monthly subscription as it's very expensive and we can't customize our site the way we want. We're looking for someone that can first fix our search feature problem. If you can do the job, we will then have more straight forward customization jobs for you.
