Details is looking for an experienced journalist to create thorough and compelling content on the status of our nation's (the USA's) broadband.

After 6 months of compiling and crunched all of the data the FCC/NTIA have collected since 2011, we're looking for someone to help us craft interesting stories around this data... and some of it's implications.

For this job we'll be testing up to 3 candidates. The best will be selected for ongoing work.

(This test assignment is flat rate but we're open to hourly arrangements with the right candidate.)

* Prior experience in journalism is a plus.
* Strong analytical skills (ability to make sense of large amounts of data quickly).
* Ability to synthesize and write about this data in a way that is interesting to the "average joe."
* A good understanding of how to pitch other journalists on ideas.
* Prior experience writing about the telecommunications industry is a huge plus.
* Connections with news major outlets is also a plus.

The Test Assignment:
For the test assignment you'll be given a choice of 2 preselected topics and the data that goes with them and will deliver a well thought out, longer piece. (1200-3000 words -- yea we're interested in longer more substantial writing than most "pageview journalism" outlets.)

Byline Note: With all the net neutrality nonsense and mergers going on in this industry, this could a great place to establish yourself as an authority in the broadband industry. After the test assignment all articles you author with us will include a byline.

Non USA English speakers: If you are from the UK, NZ, AU, CA, or another country where English is the primary language and you have a huge interest in broadband and journalism experience you're welcome to apply.)
