We currently use JIRA (Professional Edition, Version: 3.13.4-#354) and want to migrate to JIRA onDemand (cloud service). In order to do this, we need to upgrade our current version of JIRA. We need a JIRA expert to do this work for us.

If you have experience of being a JIRA admin AND HAVE DONE THIS IN THE PAST, please contact me. Please do not apply if you have not done this before.

Our Jira installation must be upgraded to version 5 before migrating to onDemand. We anticipate that this will be a low-stress job for a Jira expert. The job is available now and we are budgeting $200. We are reasonable, and if there are unexpected complications, we are happy to discuss and review the price.

There are going to be a few changes between your locally hosted version of JIRA and JIRA OnDemand. Most notably, OnDemand is running the 'latest and greatest' version of JIRA, version 5.2 which has some great improvements. You will need to upgrade your instance prior to migrating and depending on which version of JIRA 3.x you are running, our support team can advise on the best upgrade path. As long as full backups are taken before starting the process, there is no risk in losing your data.

We have release notes to bring you up to speed on the improvements made over the previous JIRA versions. Going through all the release notes between those versions is going to be a bit much, but you may want to check it over here: JIRA Release Notes and the prior versions are available in the left hand column.

How do I migrate?

Please set up an OnDemand trial. Then, take backups of your JIRA, Confluence, and/or SVN and use our data importers to upload your installed data to your hosted instance. Step-by-step instructions are provided here: Importing Data into OnDemand

Atlassian are available to help with upgrade questions via their support (ticket) system.
