I need help in designing an aquaponic fish tank & grow bed
Here is the example:
What do I need?
Something similar to #3, but the top and bottom are separate for easy cleaning. The top is called the grow bed. The top looks like #1, very strong, ideally I can stack two of #1 on top each other with 30-40cm gap in between. Each grow bed must have a drain outlet to flush the water for cleaning.
The bottom is the fish tank. I need the fish tank to be separated into 2 parts - 80% for the fish 20% for the sump/filter tank. The bottom of the tank must distribute the load evenly on the floor, ideally not completely flat, so some water can still pass through for cleaning.
Fish tank is rectangular in shape, similar to this
The design should not have any metal frame as it will add to the cost. So the fish tank should be able to hold the weight of the 2 x grow bed.
What's the weight?
Grow bed will be filled with water & rocks => take worst case scenario 150kg per grow bed. Fish tank is about 300-400kg.
How does it work?
Water flow from the fish tank to the grow bed is using a pump. Once the growbed filled up the water will drain using something called Bell Siphon.
The water from the grow bed will move to the sump tank or filter through gravity. From there water will flow naturally into the fish tank without any pump, so all the dirty stuffs sits in the sump tank, only the clean water flow into the fish tank.
The footprint is around 900mm wide x 600mm depth x 1000mm for fish tank height, 300mm for the growbed height.
