Seeking a highly motivated Digital and Social Media Coordinator who can understand and engage new and untapped strategic audiences, help to leverage the organization's presence on social media and other digital platforms and strengthen our voice in innovative education initiatives. The key role of this position is to expand our digital and social media reach, engage new audiences and people, and expand our reach and engagement across the board, helping to advance our message and mission.
This individual is expected to be up-to date on the latest social media trends and platform changes, especially as it applies to both technology and social change, understand the Organization's programmatic objectives and strategic audiences and work with the CEO and Executive teams to develop digital strategies, ideate and create native social content that help advance these objectives. The coordinator will place content in the most strategic social media channels, optimize for reach/engagement through eventual paid media campaigns, oversee our online media feeds and monitor results.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a focus on communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or digital media/technology.
5+ years of digital communications & social media experience (ideally within a Digital Agency), including content strategy, visual storytelling, community engagement, paid media optimization, reporting, and strategy.
Exceptional understanding and use of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat.
Measurement-driven mindset with extensive experience with Google Analytics, Twitter Analytics, Facebook Insights, and social listening tools (we want to consider Netbase).
Understanding of education and technology , with a passion for humanitarian, development, and public policy. A genuine interest in innovation and the organization's mission.
Highly self-directed and resourceful with the ability to work independently, while also being a productive team player.
Design skills, with ability to produce basic visual graphics for distribution on social media.
Passionate about social media and emerging trends.
Strong writing, editing, reporting, and project management skills.
Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills – strong attention to detail
Ability to work in collaboration with both technical and non-technical staff to brainstorm, problem solve, and execute.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a commitment to meeting deadlines and improving processes.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience in philanthropy or social change a plus
Experience with photography and video production, a familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and graphic design principles and practices
