Three artisans, a sculptor, carpenter, and weaver requires a space or spaces aligned with their craft; areas with strong mass and cavities for the sculptor who feels most comfortable when in touch with the earth; an articulated frame for the carpenter whose passion for clear structure is paramount and a textile membrane for the weaver who hates confinement and loves tented enclosures. Since they spend most of their time in communal areas, you must imbue them with the tectonic qualities of each.

Since the camp will be occupied in summer, you need not worry about heat or thermal enclosures. However, you must provide, through passive means, for penetration of light and ventilation. The new structure must provide places for sleeping and working, so you must filter sunlight. Most areas must be well lit while protected from direct sunlight to avoid glare and excessive heat again.

The maximum buildable area is a 36' cube. One side is aligned with the cliff edge. You may build to a maximum height of 24' above grade. The maximum cantilever extension from the vertical rock face is 12'. while there is no limit on the amount of material you may remove from the cliff, keep in mind the efficiencies of cut and fill. To secure the structure, you must anchor your building's material systems into the rock

All i'm requesting are 3 plans, 4 sections, and 1 elevation (2d) that indicate how the program fits the grid.

Include the following in your drawings

A.       Think about the material systems and indicate them in your drawings by showing wall and floor thicknesses:

24" for the rock or concrete elements - carved or assembled from stone (masonry)

12" for the red framing elements and walls (carpentry)

6" for non-bearing partitions

3" or less for textile membrane

The work of the sculptor is particularly important since the carpenter will rest his structure on the thick walls of stone, the pool is derived from stone, the fireplace derives from stone. In addition, the staircase and other areas can be carved out of stone.

Please message me in order to receive more information and clarification. Also, i will message you the grid that the program may be placed in.
