We are planning for a project where our company will be taking over a Microsoft ASP.NET web application. This is an application that supports a Security business. Another company developed and supported this app for many years. The client decided to go with another company to do regular maintenance and updates.
In taking over "ownership" of this application to maintain it for the client, we have 2 phases scheduled so far:
1. a "Learn" phase, where the client is having us review their application, the environment in which it runs, and generally become as close to SME's (Subject MAtter Experts) in the application as we can within the given time-frame.
2. "Update #1" phase. This is where/when we will document the requirements, write the actual code, conduct QA round 1, then client does UAT (User Acceptance Testing), we make any necessary bug/fixes, QA round 2, then UAT round 2, then, if all good, then we do a deployment to Production and retest in Production. I.e. standard development life-cycle.
Your role as .NET Web Apps Developer Retainer would be to help for a limited time in the "Learn" phase to get-your-feet-wet and learn the basic structure of the system and our plan to setup/maintain the system moving forward. You will work with the Account Manager and Technical Architect on the project. Then, on the "Phase 1 update" you will work with the technical architect to develop the updates needed. This is an initial trial period to see if we work well together and determine if this arrangement is a good fit for both you and DocPadz.
Additionally, this project is marked is titled "Retainer" so that when other projects come along, we have someone with a Senior to mid-range development skill-set can hop on-board and assist as needed.
Maybe we can setup a time next week to discuss and see if this sounds like an engagement that you would be interested in.
