We are looking for a conscientious and hard-working person to help us expand our program and empower young women in pursuing mastery in mathematics across the globe.
The first phase of this project is researching leads:
1. Use the internet and social networks (linkedin, for example) to research key players in math education in the US, with a focus on programs and people promoting women in math.
You will do this by identifying leaders of elite middle/high school math departments, successful after-school math programs for girls, or elite undergraduate programs that have special programs for girls in math.
2. Once leaders are identified, you will provide background information on these people including articles, academic background, their children, or even their pets, birthdays, ages, connections, and personal interests
The local math programs we're looking for are often connected to curricula and math organizations like the following:
-Top schools that participate in MathCounts (a middle school math competition)
-Elite undergraduate programs that are dedicated to recruiting female math students (Harvard, for ex., has Women in Math program). Start on undergrad programs at Stanford and CalTech
-Local math enrichment programs
-Elite High School programs that are dedicated to recruiting top math talent
3. Based on the lists and background that have been organized into a standard report on each and presented, you will draft emails to these people, based on a template that GAIM Executive Director, and follow-ups to include:
-Draft outreach emails
-One-off research & writing projects
-Help drafting emails
-Writing one-page informational copy
