Greetings oDesk contractors,
We have an existing site that we want to redevelop. Its about 20 small pages.
My budget is a placeholder, please bid what you think its worth.
You will use any site ripping tool to rip the front end of the site and then recreate in PHP with basic includes for common elements like headers, footer, menus etc. There are some very basic small forms that need to be recreated as well.
You will be given ftp access to a testing domain so we can see your work in progress.
Not only will you be recreating the site but you will be upgrading it so the code follows standards and is high performing.
All front end code should be valid HTML 5 against http://validator.w3.org
Also you should try and make the site CSS 3 valid as well. Here is a link to the CSS validator - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
I understand there are some advanced CSS techniques which the validator doesn't like. No need to worry about those.
Also you should try to make the site as high performing as possible. Your work will also be tested with http://gtmetrix.com/
If you have never heard of these three tools don't bother applying.
I will be checking your oDesk portfolios with some of these tools to see if you know how to do this. You will be marked as spam if the majority of your sites fail these simple tests. I will have no hesitation in doing this.
You will be working directly with me and I have strict quality standards.
This job is a trial for ongoing work with our company. If you are successful there will be ongoing work.
Strictly no upfront will be paid. You will be paid in milestones upon successful completion of work. You can view my companies oDesk history all contractors have been paid for successful work.
Preference given to European or American contractors as the time zone fits in with my schedule.
I am open to new oDeskers who have a portfolio or previous non oDesk work in a normal brick and mortar job or who have an extensive academic / university background.
Please address me by my name at the start of your application otherwise I will mark you as spam. Also tailor your cover letter to the job description.

Thanks, John Bampton.
