The course Principles of Architecture is a two-semester course for students in Grades 9-12. It provides an overview to the various fields of architecture, interior design,
and construction management. The course includes topics such as safety, work ethics, communication, information technology applications, systems, health, environment, leadership, teamwork, ethical and legal responsibility, employability, and career development and include skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, and reading technical drawings.
These are some of the key objectives of this course:
Explain concepts of architecture and describe contemporary architectural styles.
Identify different classifications of drawings and interpret architectural drawings.
Describe physical properties of architectural structures.
Identify materials used in architecture and estimate costs.
Identify various types of equipment used in the construction industry
Identify career opportunities in architecture and describe the nature of an architect's work.
Describe construction management roles and responsibilities.
Describe sustainable and environment-friendly techniques in construction.
Identify and describe various elements of common documents in architecture and construction.
Describe safety requirements and regulations in architecture and construction.
Describe legal aspects of architecture and construction.
