I am a doctor from Australia with a dataset for medical research (n=483) that needs very basic SPSS analysis. p values, odds ratios, univariate and multivariate analysis and maybe a Kaplan-Meier graph. It should be a very simple and short job for someone who is proficient. Please get in contact if you could help.


Dear applicant,

Here is a summary of the project:

This projects is in ophthalmology (eye surgery) and looks at the intraocular (inside the eye) pressure trends in patients receiving intravitreal (into the eye) injections of a medication called AntiVEGF that treats macular degeneration (a common cause of blindness.) Patients received multiple injections, there were 2 different injection types (Lucentis and/or Avastin) and treatment follow up varied from a few months to a few years.

I would like to analyze my dataset looking for incidence and relationships between various risk factors such as number of injections and past history of glaucoma.

There were 483 patients included in the study, but I would like to perform analysis on 2 separate groups. The first group (A) is with all patients. The second group (B) is of 321 patients, which only received treatment in 1 eye. In group B, the untreated eye is used as a control.

I have attached the background and methods section of my paper to explain the clinical context of the data “paper”. There is 1 main outcome variable, sustained intraocular pressure rise (SIOPR), which is defined in the methods section. A second factor for analysis is single pressure rise (SPR). The main spreadsheet for analysis is called “all pts.xlsx,” which is attached. The risk factors for analysis are:
• Gender – Column L
• Age – Column K
• Past history of glaucoma – Column AC
• Smoking status – Column P
• Injection type – Column U
• Number of injections (for total, lucentis only and avastin only) – Column AZ, BA, BB respectively.
o There are some patients that received Avastin only some that received Lucentis only and some that received both. I am interested in the analysis of each of these groups.
o 1) Categorical variable, 2 groups
• <8, 8-14, 14-21, >21
• <11, 11-20, >20
o 2) Continuous variable
• Baseline pressure – Column C
o This is baseline pressure for the eye receiving treatment
• Length of treatment – Column AX
o This column accounts for when patients reach their “end point” of SIOPR, not beyond. For patients that don’t reach end point, it is simply their duration of treatment.

Part 1 – incidence analysis

Please calculate the incidence in terms of eye years. That is to say, taking into account the length of treatment (Column AX) what is the incidence of those that developed SIOPR per year. Please calculate for overall, where 14 of 483 developed SIOPR and also in the second group of 321 patients, where 8 met criteria for SIOPR in the treated eye.

In addition, in the subgroup of 321 patients treated 1 eye only, please perform odds ratio comparison of those that developed SIOPR in the treated eye (Column AU) compared to those that developed SIOPR in the untreated eye (Column BT). Please divide this into 2 groups, those that had past history of glaucoma, and those that didn’t. An example of this is in the “Wherli” paper attached – table 2. Please provide odds ratio, confidence intervals and p value.

Part 2 – risk factor analysis

This analysis requires risk factor analysis for the above risk factors for both groups (A) and (B) in terms of development of SIOPR (Y) or (N). These are easily split through column N. I would like this expressed in terms of p value as in the attached mathalone paper.

For the following risk factors, please provide mean (with 95% CI), ranges, and compare the means in terms out outcome variable:
• Number of injections (for total, lucentis only and avastin only)
o Categorical variable, 2 groups
• <8, 8-14, 14-21, >21
• <11, 11-20, >20
o Continuous variable
• Baseline pressure
• Length of treatment
• Age
For the following risk factors please compare for incidence with p value
• Past history glaucoma
• Smoking status
• Gender

I would like this part presented in 2 separate tables, that look similar to the mathalone paper table. The first should be the above calculations for group A and the second table should be for group B.

Part 3 - graph

Kaplan Meier survival graph of the subgroup of 321 patients with 1 eye only treated. Please graph incidence of SIOPR in both groups over time (months.) An example of this is in the attached “Wehrli paper.”
