I would like to create a self opening box design with the components hidden. The idea is that there will be an input that will trigger an arduino to open a box, but I want the components to how the box opens to be totally hidden to the user. I would like to stay away from linear actuators for safety concerns when closing.
The design will need to stand up to lots of abuse because it will be interacted with by lots of people.
Components used can be really flexible, but they will need to be open a decently heavy lid (3/4 plywood 12"x12" or so). It will also need to be able to keep the lid closed tightly (not be able to be pulled open) when not triggered. Once open it should also hold the lid open and not be able to be pushed closed easily by someone or if it does close it should open back up and should close slowly so there aren't any smashed hands or fingers.
