We are a group of researchers in computer-aided design (https://team.inria.fr/graphdeco/).
We want to collect a dataset of industrial design drawings to support our research. We are especially interested in the drawing techniques described in classic books such as: “How to Draw” by Scott Robertson and Thomas Bertling (https://designstudiopress.com/product/how-to-draw/) and “Sketching the Basics” by Koos Eissen and Roselien Steur (http://www.sketching.nl/bookBasics.html).
We are searching for designers of different experience levels, from freshly graduated students to professionals with several years of practice.
We require you to accept a license agreement, which states that the drawings created for this task will be distributed anonymously under the Creative Commons C0 terms.
The task consists in drawing 12 objects from 2 different perspective viewpoints each. We provide three orthographic renderings of each object to help you understand its shape (top, front, side views). The attached document contains the example instructions for one of the objects. The task should be performed through an online interface provided by us.
• Industrial design experience/education.
• IPadPro or Wacom digital tablet.
We anticipate that drawing each object from two viewpoints will take between 20 minutes to 1 hour. We thus estimate that the complete task will take around 10 hours. The total price will be estimated individually based on the experience level.
